Art and Craft for Social Prescribing
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for:
• Adults seeking emotional wellbeing support through creative activities.
• People experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, loneliness, or social isolation
• Individuals who enjoy hands-on creative work such as drawing, painting, or crafting—even if they are complete beginners.
• People referred through social prescribing pathways (GPs, link workers, community health services) to improve mental health and social connection.
• Anyone who wants to build confidence, learn new skills, and connect with others in a supportive, friendly environment.
What will I learn?
Participants will learn:
Creative Skills
• A range of art and craft techniques, such as painting, collage, simple sewing and mindful craft projects.
• How to use colour, texture, fabric, and patterns to express emotions safely and creatively.
• Simple, achievable projects that encourage personal expression and relaxation.
Wellbeing & Emotional Skills
• Mindful crafting techniques to reduce stress and anxiety.
• How creative activities can improve mood, focus, and emotional balance.
• Ways to use crafting as a healthy coping strategy in daily life.
Social Connection Skills
• Building confidence when meeting new people.
• Practicing communication through relaxed, shared creative activity.
• Developing a sense of belonging and community.
